This owner had recently purchased a home with good bones but the layout didn't suit their lifestyle. The goal was to develop more open and connected spaces with lots of lights and good visibility to outdoor entertaining. A stair was relocated and a small addition was added in order to tie all the living spaces together with the new kitchen.

This young family had a great 1950's ranch home in a wonderful neighborhood. There was plenty of space but they wanted to have an open plan where they could feel more together as a family and they wanted the home to be a better reflection of their personal style. Walls and a fireplace were removed / relocated in order to connect the new kitchen, living, and dining rooms together and an under utilized formal dining room was re-purposed to create a mud room transition from the garage. A basement laundry was also moved up to the first floor.

When we sat down (almost knee to knee) in a very small living room with these clients the first thing they talked about was how much they loved how cozy and charming their house was. They both worked from home and entertained a lot so they needed some extra breathing room but didn't want to lose that charming feeling. We placed a small addition off the back of the house to grow the kitchen and living spaces just enough and added an all seasons room to extend their outdoor living. That gave us the opportunity to add an additional bedroom, bathroom, and upstairs laundry on the second level. We feel, and we hope you agree, that the remodeled space is still pretty charming.

A (Still) Cozy Fairway Home

Prairie Village Remodel

This growing family had out grown their 1950's Prairie Village Ranch. With 2 bedrooms and 1 bath the 1200 square feet were shrinking by the day. A small addition was added on the back of the house to accommodate a larger open kitchen, a cozy dining room, and a pantry and mud room transition from the garage. A central stair was relocated to grow the living room and better connect it with the other living spaces. A second level added three bedrooms and two bathrooms along with a loft area and laundry room.
